Strongmen

Dear Church Family,

The lyrics to the new song we sang at church on Sunday have been running through our hearts lately. The song began, "Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord. We will wait upon the Lord. We will wait upon the Lord." Have you taken time to wait upon the Lord lately? To wait upon Him means to minister to or serve Him through prayer, worship, reading His Word, and taking time to listen to the voice of His Spirit.

Christians should be the "strongest-of-spirit" people in all the world! We should set an example for everyone with our ability to be peaceful during a tumult, to be joyous when everyone else is depressed, and to be valiant in times of adversity. When the people around us are crumbling emotionally, we must be the ones who are "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might." (Ephesians 6:10) We should ever be ready to lift people up with the strength that's in us from Almighty God!

If you are not feeling strong right now, take time to meditate on the following Scriptures to form a new belief in your heart. And if you do feel full with the strength that comes from Heaven, let these verses water your faith:

  • Isaiah 40:28-31, "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
  • Nehemiah 8:10, "...for the joy of the Lord is your strength."
  • 2 Timothy 2:1, "Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. "
  • Joshua 1:9, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."

Spend some refreshing time in God's presence, and let the Giver of strength infuse you with His power!

We love you!
