One Nation Under God

Dear Church Family,

I want to remind each of us to continue to pray for our nation. Most of us understand the serious condition of our country. I believe God is the only one who can turn it around. Let’s not wait until this fall to pray for our country and the elections. I believe it is essential for the right people to be voted in this fall, but that won’t happen if Christians don’t pray and get out and vote.

Second Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Each of us should pray as never before for our nation. We should ask God to start first in our lives, and to do a mighty work within our nation.

First Timothy 2:2 encourages us to pray “for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” Verse four says, “Who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” It is a lot easier to get people saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth when the government is on our side and not working against us as Christians.

One thing we should be praying for is that those who would best honor God’s laws would be voted into office. Our Founding Fathers sought to establish a government that is in line with the Word of God. We need people today who will honor our Constitution and God’s laws, not their own agenda. Please understand the gravity of this time in our nation. Many Christians have grown lax in their walk with God, in their prayers, and in the civic duty to vote for godly individuals. I implore you to realize the seriousness of the hour and to be a vessel that God can use.

We have a wonderful example of the difference it makes when a country turns to God in 2 Chronicles 15. Judah was not doing very well as a nation. God spoke to King Asa through the prophet Azariah. He said in verse 2, “…The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” The result was that “They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul” and “The Lord gave them rest all around”.

God is no respecter of persons and no respecter of nations. He will do the same for our country today if we will seek Him with all our hearts!

God bless,

Pastor Jeff
